October Prophetic Insight:
Every six months I ask The Lord for prophetic insight concerning the coming months. Sometimes He gives a single word, other times a sentence or two for us here at Arise Daughters to focus on. For the month of October, our word from The Lord is "Favor".
What is Favor?
Favor is the grace of God in our lives. The Old Testament often uses favor and grace interchangeably. Grace is the unmerited favor of God, and favor means acceptance, goodwill, and preferential treatment.
How to walk in the Favor of God:
Many want to know how to walk in the Favor of God and before you skip ahead, I want to remind you of the word you just read..."walk". Yes, in order to obtain favor you may not realize this, but you have to walk in it. When you walk your steps are ordered, not chaotic (*remember this for later*). You cannot pry favor from the hands of God, rather He will grace you for assignments, and relationships and IN those, you will walk into favorable situations.
What stops the Flow of Favor?
Remember when I said that you must walk in favor and that walking is an act that is ordered, not chaotic? Okay good, because many of us look like my phone did around 12pm on Tuesday. TOO MANY TABS OPEN. While some may see this as a good thing because you can easily access many things that you may need. (picture open tabs on a computer), God sees this as a weakness.
Focusing on too many things often leaves us distrated, stagnent and paralyzed. We think that all these tabs would help us to remember the many things we need to accomplish. After all, we want to operate in excellence and that requires remembrance of the important things right? Well...I hate to snatch edges so early, but having too many tabs open runs your battery down and makes your device (computer or phone) run/process information or commands slowly.
Our brains are like a computer, we are constantly processing things we hear, see, feel, etc. When we have too many tabs open we give virtue away, rather than preserving it. We get ran down, rather than recharged. THIS, is what stops the flow of favor. Attempting to do too many things at once, hear too many opinions and seek too many voices can stop the flow of favor in our lives. Remember, favor is acceptance, goodwill, and preferential treatment from both The Lord and men. When we accept too many things (have too many tabs open) we reject the favor of God.
How you ask?
Because we are not relying on Jesus, but on our connections with others, the works of our hands, and things we have heard others say- rather than what we know the Lord has said and trusting that He will meet every need.
Think about it... When I assume that because I don't have the money that I MUST go get a second job to cover rent expenses EVEN THOUGH, God said to keep the one job and He would provide-I step out of the flow of favor. Let's look at this from a different perspective. Imagine that instead of using the time I had spent looking for a second job, I pray and ask the Lord where the resources may come from.
Suddenly, he tells me to call the rent office and be honest. They inform me that they can add an extension to the grace period for rent due(favor). Next, I ask the Lord what else He requires of me and He tells me to sell some old clothes and funiture that I honestly never use. The furniture sells and I have extra money to pocket! As the day comes to an end, I mention my hunger and thirst and proceed to order some fast food...suddenly the worker gives me a cup to get a free drink and says "don't to worry about the cost" (favor). The night ends and now I awake with renewed faith. With rest as my portion, my dream life reveals a plan of the enemy and I wake and dismantle it! Suddenly the flow of finances increase and this is when I realize, God cause everything to work out(Romans 8:28).
Before you ask, scratch your head, all of these things have happened to me before! Because I sought the Lord first and not my own opinion. This helped me to slow down and walk in favor. I was able to close a few tabs (worries/distractions) that were zapping my physical strength causing me to think slow and process slower.
Sister, trying to operate in your own power almost always leaves you tired, discouraged and drained..... as we enter a new month, let's not just pray for favor, but walk in it as we learn to close off the open tabs in our life and lean on the Lord.
Reflect:
What tabs do you have open? Tabs can be draining relationships, worries, media voices and opinions, longggg to-do list etc. Take a few minutes to reflect and determine the tabs you need to close. What is feeding you and what is feeding off of you? Hmmmm, Ask The Lord for the grace to close down what is unnecessary and help you get back into the flow. Next, pray that He would grant you mercy for allowing too many things access to your oil. Remember, oil carries a flow and those who drain you stop the flow of favor. God's favor is grace that is unmerited(we don't deserve it) but it is available for every believer.
Verses for Prayer Points:
Heavenly Father I ask that your favor be upon me, Lord as you have assigned me the tasks to complete in this season I ask that all that I do be established in you.
Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us, and establish the work of our hands upon us; yes, establish the work of our hands!
Psalm 90:17
Thank you Lord for being a sun and a shield, I praise you for favor and glory. Lord anything good thing being held up by the enemy, I ask that you would release it during this month of favor.
For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor. No good thing does he withhold from those who walk uprightly.
Psalm 84:11
Lord I thank you that you have covered me, thank you Lord for disciplining me but also promising joy!
For his anger is but for a moment, and his favor is for a lifetime. Weeping may tarry for the night, but joy comes with the morning.
Psalms 30:5
Abba in tough times, I ask that you help me to no forget any teaching that you have given me. I ask you today to write your Word concerning my life on the tablet on my heart.
My son, do not forget my teaching, but let your heart keep my commandments, for length of days and years of life and peace they will add to you. Let not steadfast love and faithfulness forsake you; bind them around your neck; write them on the tablet of your heart. So you will find favor and good success in the sight of God and man.
Proverbs 3:1-4
Thank you Lord for satisfying me, thank you for watering me like a garden and continually guiding me. I command my bones to recieve the strength of the Lord. Lord you never fail me and I thank you.
And the Lord will guide you continually and satisfy your desire in scorched places and make your bones strong; and you shall be like a watered garden, like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail.
Isaiah 58:11
I decree and declare that my appointed time has come! Oh Lord I ask you that your favor rest on me. Thank you for favoring me!
You will arise and have pity on Zion; it is the time to favor her; the appointed time has come.
Psalm 102:13
Oh Lord, please do not pass me by, may I, your servant find favor in your sight all of the day of my life.
And said, “O Lord, if I have found favor in your sight, do not pass by your servant.
Genesis 18:3
Like Esther, Lord may I win favor in the eyes of everyone I connect with this month. Lord, i know you have given me assignments for such a time as this, may your favor follow me on each and every assignment.
Now Esther was winning favor in the eyes of all who saw her.
Esther 2:15
Lord I repent for any evil in my heart, I ask that you deliver me from evil and mold my heart to do good that I may obtain favor from you.
A good man obtains favor from the Lord, but a man of evil devices he condemns.
Proverbs 12:2
I hide your word in my heart and ask that favor be established this month over everything I put my hands to. I love you Lord and I thank you in advance for a beautiful month filled with favor!
In Jesus Name, Amen
Remember:
As you pray it is best to bring a notebook so that you can write what God is saying. He may correct you, give you a word, remind you of scripture or even show you a vision. It is irresponsible to pray and walk away because prayer is communication. You cannot communicate if the conversation is one way. Honor the Lord with your time by giving it back to Him and being attentive.
